Our harvesting continued apace in July and as we headed into August, traditionally the month of gluts on the veg patch.
The start of the school summer holidays also marks the traditional influx of child labour thanks to visiting friends.
Digging for potatoes is always a popular game, and Eleanor and Harry were on hand to lift our first row of first earlies, Lady Christl, which were a new variety for us but seemed to perform fine. And the Elephant Garlic were finally harvested too.

We also held our first apple pressing day, as usual, for the very early Beauty of Bath variety.
There was time to enjoy the Good Life with our visitors too. Toasting marshmallows over a nice fire at the end of the day is a favourite, and this year to arrival of Comet Neowise provided an added attraction.
