You don’t need us to tell you that ‘Climate Change’ has now very firmly become ‘Climate Changed’.

With the northern hemisphere burning this summer in a never-ending stream of record-breaking heatwave after record-breaking heatwave, who knows what violent extremes of winter storms the super-charged atmosphere might have in store for us this winter.

Meanwhile, after 2024’s unseasonable cold and wet spring and summer caused England’s second worst harvest on record, farmers across the UK are grappling with one of the driest, hottest growing seasons in decades with predictions of the worst harvest since records began, in the battle to keep us all fed.

We are lucky at The Secret Acre to be in a part of the country that hasn’t had a hosepipe ban for over 30 years, due to the helpful geographical nature of this region’s water resource base, and even this year, the water company still has no plans to introduce one.

So our sunburnt flowers, especially the new Dhalia bed, fruit and veg, have all fared a little better than many.
