For once winter clearance work has started early at The Secret Acre.

Despite being here three years now, there’s still a long list of overgrown areas and hedges to be tackled eventually, a couple at a time each winter.

Being of a nervous disposition, we haven’t yet graduated to a full chain saw, but we have tooled up a bit more this year with the arrival of a pole saw.

Hence our unusual gusto for making an early start this winter on chopping down an unwanted larger fir tree in full on lumberjack mode. Which led inevitably of course to singing a certain song!
