After two exciting and exhausting months we are starting to feel settled and finding time to explore our new surroundings. We are blessed to have moved to an area that is crisscrossed by footpaths across some spectacular countryside, and although still feeling a pang for the city, we are certainly enjoying the great walks from our doorstep, especially the dog.
Embracing local life we battled our way through winds and rain to enjoy a Christmas cream tea at a nearby village, experienced the town’s Christmas Fair in the rain, and walked down in howling wind and torrential rain to the Cam Christmas lights switch on.
We were not going to be put off by the weather because, as many of you may know, I do love a market or local fair, and particularly a raffle. So raffle tickets bought, cakes eaten and enjoying the lights being switched on by The Minions, we trudged back up the hill soaked to the bone and forgot we had missed the draw of the raffle.
Two days later, good old facebook, announced the ticket winners and low and behold peach 95 was a winner, not only a winner but one of the top prizes, a 10lb Turkey from Cam Butchers, known to be one of the best in the area. The only question now is will it fit in the oven and thank god my sister’s family are coming otherwise it would have been a lot of Turkey for one person and a vegetarian!
We walk, you walk. You probably walk further than we do. Maybe you can think of a good walk that’s not too far when the muds subside
