After the amazing deer and aurora, out on another winter walk recently, we spied an impressively big Red Kite circling overhead.
Red Kites have made an astonishing comeback in the UK, since their re-introduction in 1995.
When we moved to The Secret Acre ten years ago, their progress West along the M4 corridor had reached Oxfordshire and the far eastern fringes of the Cotswolds. Driving East it would be at least an hour before you saw one.
Then over the last two years, neighbours started to report seeing the odd one among the everyday buzzards, but this was the first definite sighting for us at The Secret Acre.
No doubt soon, we will have dozens of these magnificent birds of prey to enjoy.
