The Secret Acre used to have three ponds.

One had already been filled in when we arrived. The second had sprung a major leak some years ago and was basically empty. The third is still a thriving haven for wildlife, despite also having a small leak and being in general need of repair.

So on a recent sunny day we learnt a new smallholder skill of digging out the second small dead pond liner, which turned out to be somewhat deeper than it appeared!

Major renovation of the third largest pond, which we are keeping, is a job for another day.
